Mr. Young has been in the law enforcement field for 23 years, spending 17 years with the Summerville Police Department. Prior to that he held police jobs in Ohio and Florence, SC. As a training officer for the Summerville Police, Young had the opportunity to teach several classes including firearms, defensive tactics and less lethal munitions. He also worked with the DEA Task Force as a narcotics officer and as a patrol officer working his way up to lieutenant.
“I’ve always wanted to teach, but I thought I’d have to wait until after retirement to do it. It’s exciting to be able to spur a young person’s interest in law enforcement. Even if they decide not to make it a career, they learn life skills they can use forever.”
